F-150 Design

For 2021, Ford executed a complete, very handsome redesign of the exterior so changes for 2022 are minimal from a design standpoint. Kodiak Brown and Lead Foot were removed from the list of paint options while Atlas Blue, a stunning dark purple with a blue undertone, was added. Black Appearance Packages are new for 2022 on the STX, XLT, Lariat and Platinum trims. Ford F-150 fans near Avon Park are going to be very impressed.

Performance & Towing

The Ford F-150 for 2022 offers variations on a total of six engines. Choices start at a naturally aspirated V6 with 290 horsepower. Next up is a twin-turbo V6 creating 325 horsepower, followed by a 5-Liter naturally aspirated V8 and a twin-turbo V6, both with 400 horsepower. The Raptor's twin-turbo V6 delivers the most horsepower at 450 while a twin-turbo V6 hybrid weighs in at 430 horsepower.

The highest towing capacity for the 2022 Ford F-150 comes from the SuperCab 8.0-ft bed with Rear Wheel Drive and the twin-turbo V6 RWD, equipped with the maximum trailer towing package. Best payload is available with the Regular Cab, 8.0-ft bed in the 5.0 Liter V8 along with the heavy-duty payload package. Ford believes it's the best payload available in any light-duty full-size pickup and we suspect truck buyers in Arcadia will agree.

Interior & Technology Features

It's expected that the newest F-150 will continue the same high-level tech available in the 2021 model. That would start with a standard 8-inch touchscreen to manage the infotainment system. Higher-end trims should have a 12-inch screen, with both screens running the Ford Sync 4 interface. The system comes with the ability to add over-the-air updates. Wireless smart phone capability comes standard and a wireless charging pad is available.

The new Ford F-150 is expected to have a Wi-Fi hotspot that can support as many as 10 devices at a time. At the loftier end of the lineup, the F-150 is expected to offer available Bang & Olufsen premium audio with a grand total of 18 speakers including at least a few located in the front headrests. A FordPass Connect app for your smartphone will give you remote control of many truck functions when you're on the job in Lake Placid FL.

Safety

Among the features that will help drivers travel more safely is a standard automatic emergency braking system to help prevent collisions in front of you. Another system keeps an eye on your blind spot and an alert sounds if a vehicle is detected in a spot you can't see. One helpful available option is an adaptive cruise control that can keep track of the space between you and the vehicle in front of you, adjusting your speed to maintain a safe distance.
